Wii Guitar Hero does emulate guitar playing fairly well, but there is no gain by wasting hours and hours on this repetitive boring game. If players spent as much time with real guitar in the hands as they did with a controller in Wii Guitar Hero they would be hammering our chords and playing real songs in no time. Guitar Hero is actually detrimental to learning how to play as it offers nothing other than wrote memorization and some what timed responses to the music on the screen. This is great and all, but there is no musicality to Wii Guitar Hero and personally I think that that is the most enjoyable part of playing an instrument. I know many people will disagree with me, and this article surely will not slow any sales of Wii Guitar Hero, but when given the choice of paying over two hundred dollars of hard earned money for this game or getting a new guitar, I think people should really look at that as an option.

The one thing I can say about the game is that it shows people that playing an instrument can be fun, and in addition it teaches them some value of how hard it is to really play. Unfortunately, most people do not take the skills they learn from Wii Guitar Hero and apply them to the real world. There would be a lot more musicians out there, and even better for me a lot of people who respect what real musicians do if these people took what they learned from Wii guitar hero and applied it to the real world. While everyone thinks that being Eddie Van Halen is easy, try doing it for real. Put down the controller and pick up real guitar to see how hard playing a solo with feeling, passion, and accuracy really is. I bet dollars to doughnuts that ninety percent of the people that play Wii guitar hero can not play a real guitar. Try it sometime.
